BIO (SOLO/DUO):
John Paul Douglas has been writing and performing original music in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and beyond, for over two decades. He is recognized for his powerful vocals, lyrical storytelling, and energetic presence on a variety of stages, either acoustically or as the front man for his five-piece band John Paul Douglas & The Bitter Trades. With a reputation for bringing a heartfelt love of Roots Americana and Blues music to local shows, music halls, and historic theatres alike, John has been privileged to open shows for nationally touring performers like Emmy Award-Winning singer-songwriter Erick Baker, and Grammy Award-Nominated performers like Sierra Hull and Yonder Mountain String Band.

BIO (BAND):
John Paul Douglas & The Bitter Trades are known for their powerful live music performances and their heartfelt original songwriting. The band blends Americana grit, groove, and soul into original storytelling that feels quite timeless and full of authenticity. The combination of skillful musicianship and a poignant, passionate delivery of their original music leave them well-received at every kind of venue including intimate local brewery shows and larger club-style music halls—all the way to grand historic theaters. The full five-piece band was recently featured at The Lincoln Theatre in Marion, VA in early 2026 on the award-winning PBS music television series "Song of the Mountains," showcasing the best talents in the musical heritage and culture of the Southern Appalachians, in a combination taping of the program alongside the Grammy-Nominated Yonder Mountain String Band.
